Residents of Lile community in Patigi Local Government Area of Kwara State were thrown into panic on Tuesday evening after scores of armed terrorists were reportedly sighted advancing toward the area on dozens of motorcycles.
Sources told SaharaReporters that the armed men, believed to be bandits, were moving in a convoy of over 40 motorcycles, each carrying two to three armed men.
A resident said the alert originated from a nearby village where the movement was first sighted.
“We have just received a call from our neighbouring village informing us that the notorious bandits were sighted moving in large numbers, over 40 motorcycles, carrying two to three persons each,” the source said.
He added that the armed group passed through a neighbouring settlement without confrontation and was seen heading directly toward Lile community.
“They passed through the neighbouring village and headed directly towards Lile community. Their current location is unknown at this moment,” he said.
Terrified residents are now pleading for immediate intervention from security agencies.
“We urgently request immediate security intervention in our community,”
the resident added.
As of the time of filing this report, the Kwara State Police Command and local security outfits had not issued any official statement on the reported movement.
