Actor Baba Ijesha freed

Nollywood actor Olanrewaju Omiyinka, popularly known as Baba Ijesha, has been released from prison after spending more than three years in custody over allegations of sexual assault.

The actor regained his freedom on Friday, November 14, 2025.

His release was announced by fellow actor Yomi Fabiyi, who shared the news in a post on his Instagram page on Friday evening. Fabiyi stated that Baba Ijesha was freed after being cleared by the Court of Appeal.

“You are now officially Free and Out. Baba Ijesha is not just back but Better,” Fabiyi wrote, adding that the court cleared him of allegations of having sexual contact with a minor. He described the earlier allegations involving a 7-year-old as “a charade.”

Recall that Baba Ijesha was convicted and sentenced to 16 years’ imprisonment on July 14, 2022, by a Lagos State High Court for sexually assaulting a 14-year-old girl.
