A female lecturer at the Federal University, Lokoja, Kogi State, has been confirmed dead after being crushed by a hit-and-run truck on Wednesday afternoon.
The victim, identified as Mrs. Kemi Emmanuel of the Department of Theatre Arts, reportedly fell from a commercial motorcycle, commonly known as an Okada, before being hit by the speeding truck along the Crusher area of Lokoja metropolis around 3:30 p.m.

The Kogi State Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Tenimu Etuku, who confirmed the incident, described the lecturer’s death as “sad and unfortunate.”
According to Etuku, FRSC rescue officers swiftly responded to the scene and rushed the victim to the Kogi State Specialist Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

Her body has since been deposited in the hospital’s morgue.
The sector commander expressed concern over the conduct of the Okada rider, who allegedly fled the scene under the pretext of pursuing the hit-and-run truck.
Etuku advised commercial motorcyclists to exercise caution and avoid competing with heavy vehicles on the highway to prevent avoidable fatalities.
