Tinubu Announces Three New Appointments

President Bola Tinubu has approved the appointment of new leaders for three federal agencies as part of efforts to strengthen institutions and improve service delivery.

The announcement was made in a statement by Segun Imohiosen, Director of Information and Public Relations at the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation.

At the National Biosafety Management Agency, Bello Bwari from Niger State was named Director-General.

His appointment took effect on September 18, 2025, for an initial term of four years as provided in the NBMA Act of 2015.

The agency is responsible for regulating modern biotechnology products, including genetically modified crops, to ensure they are safe for Nigerians and the environment.

Bwari, a town planner and former lawmaker, represented Suleja/Gurara/Tafa Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, where he served as Chief Whip.

In the financial sector, Tinubu appointed Aminu Junaidu, a former Attorney-General of Zamfara State, as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Investment and Securities Tribunal.

His five-year tenure also started on September 18, 2025.

The tribunal handles disputes in the capital market to give investors confidence in fair and timely resolutions.

For the tourism sector, Olayiwola Awakan, a lecturer and former Deputy Provost at the Federal College of Freshwater Fisheries Technology, Baga, was appointed Director-General of the Nigerian Tourism Development Corporation.

His four-year term began on September 2, 2025.

The NTDC is tasked with promoting Nigeria’s cultural heritage and tourism industry.

The Presidency stated that the new appointees have been directed to bring their expertise to the agencies and deliver results that will benefit the nation.
