A domestic fight between two sisters in Akure, the Ondo State capital turned fatal, leading to the death of one of them over N800 dispute.
According to reports, the deceased, a 35-year-old Tewogboye Omowumi and her younger sister, Iluyemi Bosede, had a heated argument over the money. Bosede had accosted Omowumi to refund the N800 she gave her to purchase tomatoes and pepper.
It was learnt that the argument escalated when Bosede grabbed her sister’s clothes, causing Omowumi to fall. The deceased was rushed to the hospital but was subsequently pronounced de@d on arrival.
Confirming the incident, the state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Ayanlade Olayinka Olushola, said Bosede has been arrested and held in custody while investigations continue.
In a statement issued, the police imagemaker said
“This unfortunate outcome underscores how trivial disputes can spiral into irreversible consequences if not peacefully managed.”
CP Lawal urged residents to resolve disagreements through dialogue and avoid violence, stressing that the police will ensure justice in the matter.
