Anambra 2026: Disgrace as Gov Soludo, First Lady, Ekwunife ‘go down low’ over allegations

News Update

Wife of Anambra State Governor Charles Soludo, Nonye Frances Soludo, has broken her silence in response to serious allegations made by Senator Uche Ekwunife, as the political temperature continues to rise ahead of the 2025 Anambra governorship election.

In a strongly worded statement, the First Lady described the accusations as “unfounded” and “malicious,” saying they crossed a line by dragging her family — including her children — into political mudslinging. While initially choosing to ignore what she termed as “baseless and unbecoming” remarks, Mrs. Soludo said she was compelled to speak out after the attacks escalated.

Recalling what was once a cordial relationship, she revealed that Senator Ekwunife and her children had been guests in her home on several occasions. She described the senator’s actions as part of a recurring pattern in her political style — one that often involves personal attacks on opponents’ families. Despite this, Mrs. Soludo emphasized her commitment to respond with dignity and grounded values.

Expressing her disappointment in the tone of the ongoing political discourse, Mrs. Soludo reaffirmed her dedication to preserving a private, principled family life. She demanded a full retraction and a formal apology from Senator Ekwunife within 72 hours, warning that failure to comply would result in legal action.

To counter the allegations directly, she presented three verifiable facts:

She has worked as a professional entrepreneur throughout her adult life and has never relied on public funds.

She has never met the late Governor Chinwoke Mbadinuju.

She has been faithfully married to Governor Soludo for 33 years.
Mrs. Soludo didn’t stop there. She issued two bold public challenges to Senator Ekwunife:

First, both women should swear oaths of fidelity and chastity before the Blessed Sacrament in a cathedral, witnessed by their children.

Second, she proposed that both families undergo paternity tests at reputable hospitals in London — with Mrs. Soludo offering to bear the full cost — to dispel any lingering doubts about the parentage of their children.

She also dismissed Ekwunife’s broader criticisms of Governor Soludo as baseless, reaffirming his integrity and long-standing reputation as a respected academic and public leader.

Senator Ekwunife has become one of Governor Soludo’s most vocal critics in the lead-up to the election, making personal and pointed attacks. Her accusations have ranged from criticizing the governor’s personal hygiene to questioning the authenticity of Mrs. Soludo’s PhD, which she alleged was obtained from an unaccredited institution.

She also claimed the Soludos were complicit in the controversial administration of the late Governor Mbadinuju.
