We’ve seen visible development in Osun state, Artisans back Adeleke for second term

News Update

Professional artisans in Osun state have formally endorsed Governor Ademola Adeleke for a second term in office, citing what they described as “visible development” during his first tenure.

The endorsement took place on Thursday at Freedom Park, Osogbo, where the governor once again adopted the viral refrain “Deyin Leyinmi” , a song of resilience that has become his political signature tune. The atmosphere was charged with Yoruba chants and proverbs echoing through the crowd: “If the goat looks back, he returns the curse to its owner. Kuru kere, odi ile alawo; Kuru kere, odi ile onisegun.”

The chants reflected the cultural undertone of the rally, where artisans, market leaders, and party loyalists mingled in support.

Speaking during the event, the Public Relations Officer of the Osun State Professional Artisans, Waheed Olufemi Lawal, declared that Adeleke had empowered local hands, “most contracts under Adeleke go to Osun citizens, not people from outside, he noted.”

“We can see with our own eyes the unlimited development that has taken place in Adeleke’s first term. Most contracts go to Osun citizens, not outsiders. For these reasons, we artisans endorse his second term,” Lawal said.

Governor Adeleke, while thanking the artisans, urged residents of the state to take advantage of ongoing voter registration to secure their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs). He added that civil servants across Osun have also held solidarity rallies backing his re-election bid.

In a related development, the Iyaloja General of Osun State called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to approve the release of local government funds, stressing that more grassroots development would be achieved if states had direct access to allocations.

“If the federal government could release the local government funds, Osun will enjoy more dividends of democracy,” she noted.

The twin messages of endorsement and financial appeal add to the mounting political drama in Osun as stakeholders realign ahead of the 2026 elections.
