Okada Snatcher Arrested in Osun: Police Recover Stolen Motorcycles

OSUN police has arrested a suspected armed robber, Johnson Olagoke, who allegedly disguises as passenger, only to attack motorcyclists with a weapon and dispossess them of their bikes.

The Police Public Relations Officer of the Command, DSP Abiodun Ojelabi, made this known on Thursday, September 11.

Also arrested were six suspected cultists who engaged in a rival group clash inside a tertiary institution’s premises, injuring two students.

The suspected cultists are Oluwadamilare Temitope, 23; Ayodeji John, 24; Adepoju Adeojo, 27; Yusuf Abeeb, 24; Fatai Quadri, 24; and Lateef Abiodun, 23;

‎In a statement released on Thursday, Olagoke was arrested following reports at C’ Division, Ile-Ife, by two motorcyclists who were attacked by him on separate days.

DSP Ojelabi said that the first victim told the police of how Ojelabi engaged his service on August 16, at about 8p.m., requesting to be taken to a school in Ile-Ife where he left his bag.

However, unknown to the bike rider, two members of Ojelabi’s gang had laid an ambush inside the school, waiting for him.

The complainant said that immediately he got inside the school, he was hit with a big stick continuously until he became unconscious, while his motorcycle with registration number KJA 543 QN was taken away by the robbers along with his N17,850, one Techno phone and a hand bag.

Two days after, August 18, the Ojelabi went on operation again. In his usual style, he engaged the second victim’s service and fraudulently obtained N5,000 from him.

Assuring the motorcyclist to wait for him in front of the school, Olagoke reportedly made a move as if he was going inside the school premises, but immediately turned and hit the victim on the head from behind until he lost consciousness.

After achieving this, the suspect was said to have carted away the victim’s motorcycle with registration number BDG 556 QN, a bag containing one Techno phone spark 9F and cash sum of N10,650.

When the incidents were referred to the anti-kidnapping unit for discreet investigation, the police operatives attached to it immediately swung into action, and through intelligence-led operation, arrested Olagoke and recovered the two motorcycles.

The PPRO disclosed that the Olagoke had been helping the police with relevant information to arrest others at large.
