Tragedy as Ex-Speaker Shot Dead

A former Ukrainian parliament Speaker, Andriy Parubiy, has been shot dead.

It was gathered that Parubiy was shot dead on Saturday in the western city of Lviv.

According to the security authorities, President Volodymyr Zelensky has described the demise of the former lawmaker as a “horrific murder”.

Zelensky vowed a thorough investigation into the killing of the popular politician who was the parliamentary speaker in the 2010s.

Police further stated that Parubiy died on the spot as a result of his injuries, adding that they are searching for the gunman, and the motive for the killing was unclear.

Parubiy, who was speaker of parliament from 2016 to 2019, had been a prominent supporter of the pro-European Orange Revolution in 2004 and the Maidan Revolution in 2014.
