Osun: Ex- Accord Executive Calls Out FMR Chairman Pastor Victor Akande, Urges NEC to Rescue Party

Former executive members of the Accord Party in Osun State have openly challenged the legitimacy of Pastor Victor Akande’s continued claim to party leadership in the state, accusing him of falsehood, abuse of power, and actions detrimental to party unity.

The former executive members, Alahaji Nasiru Bolarinwa, Hon Yakub Olayinka, and Mr. Oladapo Joseph had, during a press briefing yesterday, challenged Pastor Victor Akande for creating internal disunity and fragmenting the party.

In a strongly worded joint statement issued today, the former officers of the party accused Pastor Akande of attempting to misrepresent the structure and true leadership of the party in Osun. They insisted his tenure has long expired and dared him to provide official documents confirming otherwise.

“We are ready to tame Pastor Victor with his lies. If he has any proof, we dare him to present:

A valid letter confirming that his tenure is still active;

The mandate that substantiates his position as Chairman;

Minutes and resolutions of the meeting where the so-called expulsion of executive members was discussed;

Details of where such a meeting was held and who ratified it at the NEC level,” the statement read.

The former executives described Akande’s actions as destabilizing, adding that his claims of expelling other officers were baseless and lacked any procedural backing.

They also raised concerns about the role of the party’s National Secretary, stating that while she is recognized as the national leader of the party in Osun State, her alleged favoritism toward Pastor Akande, including the rejection of formal correspondence from aggrieved members, threatens to erode the democratic ethos within Accord.

“No one, not even the National Secretary, should impose leadership on Osun Accord members without the collective acceptance of card-carrying members. The party we labored to build must not collapse at the feet of one man,” the statement continued.

The group concluded by calling on the National Working Committee (NWC) to intervene promptly to save the party from further disintegration ahead of the next gubernatorial elections.

“We call on the national leadership to take swift and decisive action on the Osun Accord crisis before the party becomes extinct in the state,” they warned.

As the internal wrangling deepens, political watchers in Osun are monitoring the situation closely, with many questioning whether Accord can mount a credible front in the upcoming election season amidst such internal turmoil.
