News Update
Former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Engr. Babachir David Lawal, has officially resigned his membership of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Lawal’s resignation was contained in a letter dated June 29, 2025, and addressed to the chairman of the APC in Bangshika Ward, Hong Local Government Area of Adamawa State.
In the letter, he informed the ward chairman of his decision to leave the party with immediate effect, adding that he would soon reveal the political platform he intends to align with.
But there are speculations that Lawal who was SGF during ex president Muhammadu Buhari administration, may join the ADC, the newly adopted platform for the coalition seeking to unseat Tinubu in 2027.
Others who have also defected to the ADC include former Minister of Transportation Rotimi Amaechi, former Attorney-General Abubakar Malami, ex-Governor of Osun State Rauf Aregbesola, former Chief of Air Staff Saddique Abubakar, ex-Edo State Governor Oserheimen Osunbor, former Senate President David Mark, and former Aviation Minister Hadi Sirika.
