Osun LG Tussle: Appeal court judgement ends APC political desperado – Alimi

THE Osun State Government has disclosed that the refusal of the Court of Appeal, Akure Division, to re-enlist the All Progressives Congress, APC, appeal against the nullification of the local government election held in 2022 would put an end the the APC bringadage in the state.

The APC had applied to the Appellate Court seeking to re-enlist an appeal against the judgement of a Federal High Court nullifying the 2022 local government polls after it was dismissed for lack of prosecution.

But the court in its judgement on Friday dismissed the application for not meeting the condition(s) to be relisted.

Addressing journalists shortly after the judgement, the Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Kolapo Alimi said the outcome should put to rest the political imbroglio created the third tier of government by the APC.

His words, “To God be the glory that the political brigandage of APC has been legally destroyed. It is therefore, quite unfortunate that the pronouncement of the Court has never been ambiguous in all the cases before the court, to the extent that, there has never been any judgement that reinstated the Yes/No Chairmen in the first instance.

“The APC inflicted on the people of Osun state (the most peaceful state in Nigeria) the unwarranted, unprovoked and unnecessary political crisis leading to loss of many lives and properties in the state.

“We therefore, call on Alhaji Adegboyega Oyetola and Osun APC to apologise to the good people of Osun state for the unwarranted and unnecessary chaos which they inflicted on the people of Osun state for the period it lasted”.
