In a heart-wrenching tragedy that has left many in shock, three young siblings were crushed to death in the early hours of Wednesday when a speeding truck lost control along the Celica Kukumoda stretch of the Ife-Ibadan expressway.
The children, all from the same family, were reportedly on their way to school when the heavy-duty vehicle, loaded with goods, suffered a brake failure and rammed into them.
Eyewitnesses described the scene as devastating, with people screaming and rushing to help, but it was too late to save the children.
Their lifeless bodies were later recovered by officials of the Federal Road Safety Corps and transported to a nearby hospital.
Police officers also arrived promptly to maintain order and manage the growing crowd of grief-stricken onlookers.
