PDP’s Gov. Adeleke Govt Debunks Sacking Of Worker in Osun

News Update

THE ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Osun State has once again refuted the claim made by former Senator Ajibola Basiru of the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC) regarding the status of certain individuals allegedly employed into the civil service at the tail end of the immediate past administration. The PDP described the remarks as mere crocodile tears from a sore loser.

The party reminded Mr Basiru that the Osun State civil service is governed by established laws and cannot be manipulated for political vendettas.

It noted that many APC loyalists were hastily and unlawfully absorbed into the civil service in the twilight of Mr Gboyega Oyetola’s administration, not through due process but as a political trap for the incoming PDP government.

In a statement from the Osun PDP media office, the party condemned the desperate attempt by the embattled APC governorship aspirant to label the last-minute and irregular exercise as genuine employment.

The party emphasized that all legal protocols were flagrantly disregarded in what was clearly a politically motivated move.

“Senator Basiru’s attempt to castigate Governor Ademola Adeleke’s administration is futile. The good people of Osun, who voted out the APC, are fully aware of the deceit hidden in that last-minute employment charade,” the statement read.

“It is indeed laughable that an APC government which neglected workers’ welfare for years, failing to employ or conduct any statutory promotion for the existing workforce, suddenly began distributing civil service slots after losing the 2022 election. Clearly, this was not governance but an act of clear desperation.”

The PDP urged Osun residents to recall the hardship workers endured under the APC regime: over 30 months of unpaid salaries, stalled promotions, and a demoralized workforce. Many workers only began to enjoy their rightful benefits, including regularized promotions with appropriate salary backing, under Governor Adeleke’s leadership.

“It is unfortunate that those who presided over such a dark era in Osun civil service now seek to distract a genuinely empathic administration with baseless accusations,”

The PDP reaffirmed that Governor Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke remains committed to filling genuine vacancies in the state civil service through a transparent and lawful process, unlike the irregularities that characterized the APC’s last-minute actions.
