News Update
Six members of the House of Representatives from Delta State have defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Also, two lawmakers from Enugu State have moved from the Labour Party (LP) to the PDP.
The announcements were made on Tuesday during the House’s plenary session in Abuja.
The Speaker of the House, Tajudeen Abbas, formally informed the chamber of the defections as the lawmakers completed their switch.
Those leaving the PDP for the APC include Victor Nwokolo, Julius Pondi, Thomas Ereyitomi, Nicholas Mutu, Ukodhiko Jonathan, and Nnamdi Ezechi, all representing Delta State.
Meanwhile, Mark Obetta and Denis Nnamdi from Enugu State crossed over from the Labour Party to the PDP.
The lawmakers explained that they chose to leave their former parties due to unresolved internal disputes and the existence of parallel leadership structures in their states.
They stated that they reached their decisions after holding consultations with their supporters and political allies.
