THE Federal Government of Nigeria has revealed the salary and allowances of the Vice President, providing a clearer picture of the financial support tied to the office.
The Vice President earns a total of ₦12,126,290 per year, which amounts to about ₦1,010,524 each month.
This total combines a basic salary and various allowances.
Specifically, the Vice President’s annual basic salary is ₦3,031,572.50, which breaks down to a monthly payment of ₦252,631.04, according to the Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission.
In addition to the basic salary, there is a hardship allowance worth 50% of the basic salary, amounting to ₦1,515,786.25 annually or ₦126,315.52 per month.
The most significant allowance is the consistency allowance, which is 250% of the basic salary, giving the Vice President ₦7,578,931.25 yearly, or ₦631,577.60 monthly.
These allowances are intended to support the Vice President in carrying out their demanding duties.
Besides these, the Vice President is also entitled to other benefits, although specific amounts for these were not disclosed.
They include allowances for vehicle fueling and maintenance, support for personal and special assistants, domestic staff, entertainment, utilities, security, and a provision for newspapers and periodicals to keep the Vice President informed about important events.
When all these allowances are combined with the basic salary, the Vice President’s total annual earnings come to ₦12,126,290, with a monthly income of ₦1,010,524.

It was also reported that the President of Nigeria earns ₦14,058,820 annually, which is about ₦1,171,568 per month, while state governors receive ₦7,782,968 annually or ₦648,581 monthly, according to figures provided by Muhammed Shehu, the Chairman of the Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission.
