Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara State has ordered an increase in the allowances given to National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members posted to the state.
The announcement was made on Friday during the opening of the orientation course for the 2025 Batch ‘A’ Stream I corps members.
The event took place with the Secretary to the State Government, Malam Abubakar Nakwada, standing in for the governor.
Lawal made it known that the payment of state allowances to corps members would resume immediately, with the amount now raised by 100 percent.
He also said that corps members working in the medical field would receive special allowances in addition to the regular payments.
Speaking at the orientation camp, Lawal assured the 550 corps members that their security and welfare would be a top concern for his administration.
He urged the young graduates to respect and learn from the history, culture, and traditions of the people of Zamfara State.
According to him, all necessary support would be given to ensure the corps members perform their duties well and enjoy their stay.
During the event, the NYSC State Coordinator, Mohammad Ahmad, expressed gratitude to the governor for supporting the scheme.
He noted the state government’s efforts in providing additional facilities and approving the allowance payments for the corps members.
