2025: WHO Osun Field Office Commemorates World Health Day In Osun

•Advocates Quality Health Care Services For Pregnant Women, Nursing Mothers In Osun

World Health Organization (WHO) Osun State Field Office, has commemorated the World Health Day 2025 in Osun state, a program held at Ido-Osun Primary Health Centre, Egbedore Local Government on April 7, 2025.

Dr. Oluyemi Aduke Ogundun, Director, Medical Services and Disease Control, Osun State Primary Health Care Development Fund while speaking said one of the essence of the program is to give
“all pregnant women and new born children quality life such that their future will be secured”

The World Health Day 2025 themed; ‘Healthy beginnings, hopeful futures’, the State Coordinator for Health in Osun, Dr. Ojediran Oluwatoyin who represented the permanent secretary of health, stated that more 200 Primary healthcare centers have been constructed by the administration of Governor Ademola Adeleke.

“I encouraged all women to take quality health life for women serious.

Also, WHO team preached against death of women during childbirth and advocated healthy living for every pregnant woman and nursing mothers.

Dr Israel Awokanmi, in his address, congratulated Osun State, encouraged regular sex for pregnant Women, “when pregnancy is Six to seven months, allow your husband to have sex with you for smooth and safe delivery.”

Also, Red Cross team preached regular antenatal care for pregnancy Women.

They encouraged women to have balanced diet. She preached against mutilation for girl child.

In his note; TCI representative, Olatunde Raheem, advocated for family planning and child spacing.

He encouraged people to adopt family planning for hopeful futures.

She appreciated all the partners and the state government for making World Health Day a grand success.

The pregnant women and nursing mothers were thrilled with a stage drama to encourage antenatal care and child immunization. The drama also displayed the importance and significance of regular visit to Primary Health Care hospitals in every Local Government Areas and wards in Osun State.

The stakeholders and dignitaries who graced the occasion includes; Osun State Ministry of health, WHO, Nigerian Red Cross, DMS/SC – Dr Oluyemi Aduke Ogundara, Family Planning Coordinator – Mrs Abatan Ololade, SHPO – Mrs Taiwo Adeniji, SHPO – Mrs Oyelere, Secretary Egbedore Local Government – Mrs Akinwumi C.A, Assistant State Health Promotion Officer – Mr Akande Sina Adewale, among others.
