Osun: Amotekun Corps To Inaugurate 1,150 New Recruits, Friday

News Update

THE Osun Amotekun Corps has announced that it will hold a Passing Out Parade for its newly trained recruits on Friday, March 28, 2025.

The ceremony will take place at the National Youth Service Corps, NYSC , Permanent Orientation Camp in Ede, Osun State, starting at 10:00 AM.

A total of 1,150 recruits have completed an intensive three-week training programme designed to prepare them for security duties across the state.

The parade will mark their official induction into the corps.

The Board Chairman of the Osun Amotekun Corps, AIG Wale Abass (Rtd), and the Corps Commander, Adekunle Isaac Omoyele, made the announcement in a press statement released in Osogbo on Wednesday.

His Excellency, Governor Ademola Adeleke, will be the Chief Guest of Honour at the event.

Other distinguished personalities, including traditional rulers and community leaders, have also been invited.

“The Osun State Government remains committed to improving security across the state,” said Omoyele.

“These recruits have been trained to enhance our operations and ensure the safety of lives and property.”

The training, which began on March 10th, 2025, covered a range of security-related skills, including intelligence gathering, crime prevention strategies, and community policing techniques.

Officials said the training was designed to strengthen the capabilities of the Amotekun Corps in tackling security threats such as armed robbery, kidnapping, and other criminal activities.

“Our goal is to equip these recruits with the knowledge and discipline needed to serve effectively,” AIG Abass (Rtd) stated.

“The parade will showcase their readiness for the task ahead.”

The Osun Amotekun Corps was established as part of the South-West regional security initiative to provide local support in crime prevention and enhance collaboration with conventional security agencies.

Residents and stakeholders have been encouraged to attend the event, which is expected to be a significant moment in the ongoing efforts to reinforce security in Osun State.

The Osun State Government has reiterated its support for community-based security initiatives, with Governor Adeleke emphasising the importance of synergy between security agencies and local vigilante groups.

The Passing Out Parade will serve as the final step before the new personnel are deployed to various parts of the state to begin active duty in securing communities.
