Nigeria Wins First Game In 2026 W’Cup Qualifiers

Eric Chelle marked his first match as Nigeria manager with a win as the Super Eagles defeated the Wasps of Rwanda 2-0 at the Amahoro Stadium in the match-day five of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

Galatasaray forward, Victor Osimhen, scored the two goals in the first half to ensure that the former African champions revive their 2026 World Cup hope.

The result took Nigeria to the fourth spot in Group C with seven points from the five matches played so far, as South Africa which defeated Lesotho 2-0 at the Peter Madiba Stadium in their country goes top of the group with 10 points. Nigeria will next play Zimbabwe on Monday.
