2027 Election: Labour Party Makes Key Endorsement

News Update

THE Labour Party (LP) has officially declared Peter Obi as its presidential candidate for the 2027 general election, reaffirming its commitment to challenging the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

The party’s National Working Committee (NWC) made the endorsement on Friday, also backing Abia State Governor Alex Otti for re-election and Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour as the party’s gubernatorial candidate in Lagos State.

Labour Party’s National Publicity Secretary, Abayomi Arabambi, stated that Nigerians, particularly the youth, have shown growing support for Obi due to dissatisfaction with President Bola Tinubu’s policies.

According to him, the party is determined to offer an alternative leadership that prioritizes the needs of the masses.

Arabambi noted that the 2027 election presents an opportunity for change through democratic means. He stressed that the Labour Party’s primary objective is to remove the APC from power through the ballot box if Nigerians desire a different direction.

Reaffirming Obi’s candidacy, Arabambi described him as the best choice to lead the country forward. He added that the party remains focused on mobilizing nationwide support to ensure a strong showing at the polls.

Beyond the presidential race, the party is also working to strengthen its presence in key states. The endorsement of Governor Otti and Rhodes-Vivour, according to Arabambi, is part of a broader strategy to expand Labour Party’s influence across the country.

He urged Nigerians to remain hopeful, stating that the party is committed to policies that will address economic hardship, governance reforms, and social justice.

As preparations for the 2027 elections begin, the Labour Party is expected to intensify grassroots mobilization and coalition-building to strengthen its position against the APC and other political rivals.
