Ebonyi auto crash: Death toll rises to four

Death toll from a ghastly road accident that happened on Wednesday around 2pm along Okposi-Amasiri Road involving a group of 2024 Batch C Stream 2 corps members heading to Orientation camp in Afikpo Local Government Area of Ebonyi State has risen to 4.

It was gathered that the accident involved an Enugu North Mass Transit, which ran under a stationary truck within the Okposi axis in Ohaozara LGA, resulting in the loss of lives and injuries.

In a statement by David Umahi Federal University Teaching Hospital, Uburu late Thursday evening, four lives have been loss as a result of the accident.

At least thirteen victims were rushed to the hospital and upon arrival, two victims succumbed to their injuries.

Two were transferred to the surgical ward, while others were admitted to the accident and emergency ward.

Meanwhile, one corps member escaped without injuries, while the driver sustained severe cervical injuries.

The survivors are said to be recuperating, and hospital officials are hopeful about their chances of making a full recovery.
