Osun: PDP carpets APC over criticism of Adeleke’s re-election bid

News Update

THE Osun State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has strongly criticised the All Progressives Congress, APC, for its recent comments regarding Governor Ademola Adeleke’s re-election endorsements.

In a statement issued on Monday by the PDP Chairman, Sunday Bisi, the party described the APC’s remarks as a “delusional attempt” to undermine the governor’s popularity among the people.

“The APC’s attitude shows a refusal to accept the democratic will of Osun’s people,” Bisi stated.

“The overwhelming support for Governor Adeleke is clear evidence of his remarkable performance in office, and no amount of falsehood will change that.”

The PDP accused the APC of ignoring its past failures, highlighting the alleged financial mismanagement and neglect of state infrastructure during the APC’s tenure.

“It’s ironic that those responsible for Osun’s hardships now expect to regain power through propaganda,” Bisi added.

Governor Adeleke’s administration has reportedly completed several infrastructure projects, including roads and bridges left unfinished by the previous APC government.

According to the PDP, the governor’s achievements have earned him widespread approval, making the APC’s criticisms baseless.

“The APC should acknowledge Governor Adeleke’s success in addressing the issues they left behind,” Bisi said.

“Instead, they cling to lies and outdated tactics that have failed to resonate with the people.”

The PDP also addressed allegations from the APC regarding the purported dismissal of 1,500 teachers.

Bisi dismissed these claims as fabricated, challenging the APC to produce evidence of the alleged sackings.

“Governor Adeleke inherited an education system in dire straits, with deplorable school infrastructure,” Bisi explained.

“He has since rehabilitated over 100 public schools and initiated recruitment to fill teaching positions, countering the APC’s baseless accusations.”

In the health sector, the governor’s administration has reportedly revitalised about 200 primary healthcare centres, PHCs, with upgraded facilities, a move the PDP said contrasts starkly with the APC’s failure to utilise a $20.5 million World Bank grant for similar purposes.

Bisi concluded by urging Osun residents to remain vigilant against what he termed the APC’s “desperate misinformation campaign.”

He expressed confidence that the people would continue to support Governor Adeleke’s leadership and reject attempts to return to what he described as the “dark days” of the APC’s rule.

The PDP’s statement emphasised that the governor’s track record of achievements in infrastructure, education, and healthcare sets him apart as the preferred choice for Osun’s continued progress.
