Ondo: APC, PDP, other 11 political parties cleared for 2025 LG elections

THE Ondo State Independent Electoral Commission (ODIEC) has unveiled the list of political parties set to participate in the forthcoming local government elections scheduled for January 18, 2025.

This was confirmed by the Commissioner in charge of Communication, Media and Information Technology, Mr Tunde Adeleye, in a statement issued by the Commission’s Press Officer, Mrs Bisi Lawani.

Adeleye revealed that 13 political parties were cleared following a screening exercise conducted at the ODIEC headquarters on Friday, 27 December 2024.

These parties are eligible to contest for the chairmanship positions in the state’s 18 local government areas and the councillorship positions in the 203 wards.

“The list of screened and cleared political parties was released today by ODIEC on 1 January 2025,” the statement noted.

The cleared political parties include Action Democratic Party (ADP), Action People’s Party (APP), All Progressives Congress (APC), All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA), Boot Party (BP), Labour Party (LP), New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Social Democratic Party (SDP), Young Progressives Party (YPP), Zenith Labour Party (ZLP), Action Alliance (AA), and National Rescue Movement (NRM).

According to ODIEC guidelines, campaign activities by political parties commenced on December 26, 2024 and are expected to conclude on January 16, 2025.
