News Update
At least two local government chairmen and 13 councillors in Edo State have joined the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Hon. Edosa Enowoghomenma, chairman of Ovia South West, along with eight councillors, and Hon. Dickson Ahonsi, chairman of Owan West, with five councillors, were welcomed into the APC fold.
The group included the Leader of the House in Ovia South West, Hon. Nosakhare Edobor.
The defections come amid ongoing tensions between the councils and Governor Monday Okpebholo’s administration.
The chairmen said they were impressed by the governor’s approach to governance and his focus on development.
They also said joining the APC will allow them to support the governor and bring more progress to their communities.
During the event, state APC leaders assured the new members of equal opportunities within the party. Hon. Enowoghomenma explained that the decision was made to ensure closer cooperation with the governor and Deputy Governor Dennis Idahosa, whom he described as a key figure in the region.
The councillors emphasized their commitment to improving the lives of people in their local government areas, saying that their move to the APC would help them achieve their goals.
