THE Lagos State Government has signed five new bills into law.
These bills aim to address critical societal issues, including illegal organ trade, consumer protection, and public safety.
This development was announced on Thursday by the Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Lawal Pedro, at a briefing in Alausa, Ikeja.
The first is the Human Organ and Tissue Transplantation Law which is a key measure against illegal organ harvesting.
It establishes strict regulations for organ transplants, banning unauthorized procedures and advertisements for organ sales.
Violators face penalties ranging from significant fines to prison sentences.
Other laws signed include the Consumer Protection Law, which bolsters consumer rights, ensuring businesses adhere to ethical practices.
