APC Reacts To Seyi Tinubu’s Governorship Ambition In Lagos

News Update

THE Lagos chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has distanced itself from the recent wave of endorsements for Seyi Tinubu, President Bola Tinubu’s son, ahead of the 2027 governorship election.

Seyi has been reportedly tipped as a successor to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu in the next election.

Youth groups like the Coalition of Nigerian Youth Leaders and Friends of Seyi Tinubu have also backed his candidacy, praising his leadership qualities and his father’s work in Lagos.

Reacting to the reported ambition, Lagos APC’s spokesperson, Seye Oladejo, said the 2027 governorship election is not on its agenda.

Oladejo revealed party is currently focused on good governance and the upcoming 2025 local government elections.

He accused opposition groups of plotting the endorsements in an attempt to to stir up trouble.

He said: “The party has not spoken about the 2027 election. This is the time for impactful governance, not needless politicking to heat the polity.

“We should rally behind the governor and the president now to advance development.”
