Yobe Speaker to Gov Buni: Reduce dependance on federal allocation

The Speaker of Yobe State House of Assembly, Ciroma Buba Mashio has advised the state government to diversify its source of revenue and reduce over-dependance on federal allocation.

The Speaker gave the advice while addressing the House before Governor Mai Mala Buni presented the appropriation bill for the 2025 fiscal year.

“To reduce over-dependance on federal allocation and deficit financing of budget, the House is calling on the executive to enhance institutional capacity on diversifying revenue sources of the state.

“Hence the need to enforce the already existing Public Finance Management Laws, and ensure that all revenues go into the State Single Revenue Account,” he said.

Mashio assured that the House remains determined and committed to partnering with the executive and judiciary more than ever before in pursuance of the mission to promote good governance through effective and efficient legislation.

He commended the efforts of Governor Buni in his response to the current economic downturn by moving to bring succour to the citizens through the provision of agricultural implements and inputs worth billions of naira.
