Akwa Ibom Poll: PDP sweeps 30 LGs, APC wins in Akpabio’s LGA

THE Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has claimed a decisive victory in the October 5, 2024, local government election in Akwa Ibom State, securing 30 out of the 31 available chairmanship positions.

The Akwa Ibom State Independent Electoral Commission (AKISIEC) confirmed this in a statement released on Sunday.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) won the remaining one local government area.

With the results now official, the elected chairmen and their vice-chairmen are set to be sworn in on Monday, October 7, 2024.

The swearing-in ceremony will take place at 8 am at the Banquet Hall, Government House, Uyo, and will be presided over by Governor Umo Eno in the presence of esteemed guests.

APC wins in Akpabio’s LGA

Usoro Ntiedo Effiong, the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has been declared the winner of the October 5 Local Government Elections in Essien Udim LGA, Akwa Ibom State.

This victory is significant as Essien Udim is the home of Senate President, Senator Godswill Akpabio. Effiong’s win further strengthens the APC’s presence in the area.
