President Bola Tinubu has approved the appointment of Honourable Ojukaye Flag Amachree as the new Director of Energy Security in the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA).
The Energy Security Directorate, a newly created unit in ONSA, is tasked with coordinating policies, protecting critical infrastructure, managing data, providing security coordination, offering risk advisory services, and building strategic alliances within Nigeria’s energy sector.
In a statement released by ONSA’s Head of Strategic Communications, Zakari Mijinyawa, the appointment was described as part of the government’s broader commitment to ensuring a stable, sustainable, and secure energy supply for the country.
“In his new role, Amachree will oversee key national energy security initiatives aimed at enhancing energy security, as well as strengthen community participation in safeguarding Nigeria’s energy resources to support short and long-term energy sustainability”, the statement read.
Amachree will work closely with various stakeholders, including government ministries, security agencies, energy sector regulators, international partners, and community leaders, to implement solutions to Nigeria’s energy challenges.
The statement further noted that Amachree, who holds degrees in Management and is an alumnus of the Lagos Business School, is well-positioned to lead this critical unit.
“The National Security Adviser, Malam Nuhu Ribadu, congratulates Hon. Flag Amachree on this appointment,” Mijinyawa added.
