‘My mandate is for two games ‘ – Austin Eguavoen Quits As Interim Super Eagles Coach

Augustine Eguavoen has stepped aside as the interim coach of the Super Eagles, OwnGoalNigeria reports.

According to Eguavoen, his “mandate was for two games”.

The technical director of the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, was brought in after attempts to hire a substanstive head coach for the national team failed.

He took charge of two 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Benin Republic and Rwanda.

The Eagles beat Benin 3-0 last Saturday and drew 0-0 at Rwanda on Tuesday.

Speaking at the Kigali Airport after the game, Eguavoen refused to be drawn into preparations for Nigeria’s next game against Libya.

He said: “I have been given a mandate to handle two games.

“I will want to say I am very pleased with the boys and again, thanks to the NFF leadersip and all the boys who supported me.

“It ends today. I can’t talk about Libya, because I haven’t been told about it.”
