Nigeria’s average cost of a healthy diet rose by 1.9 percent in July 2024 to N1,265.
This is according to the National Bureau Statistics Cost of a Healthy Diet data released recently.
The figure represents an increase from N1,241 recorded in June 2024.
On a zonal analysis, the average CoHD was highest in the South West at N1,581 per adult per day, compared to N956 per adult per day in the North West.
“This is a lower bound (or floor) of the cost per adult per day excluding the cost of transportation and meal preparation.
“In recent months, the CoHD has risen faster than general inflation and food inflation”, CoHD data stated.
The development comes as Nigeria’s headline and food inflation stood at 33.40 percent and 39.53 percent, respectively, in July 2024.
