Nigerian Resident Doctors Declare Nationwide Strike

Voice Air Media, News Update

THE Nigeria Association of Resident Doctors (NARD) has declared a 7-day warning Strike across all of its centres nationwide.

The resident doctors strike is to clamour for the release of its kidnapped member Dr Ganiyat Popoola, who has been in captivity for over 8 months.

Osun Defender reported that the association of Resident Doctors at Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH-ARD) recently staged a solidarity walk to demand the safe return of their colleague, Dr Ganiyat Popoola, a resident doctor who was abducted eight months ago in Kaduna.

Dr Popoola, was kidnapped on 27 December 2023 alongside her husband and nephew.

While her husband has been released after a ransom was reportedly paid, Mrs Popoola and her nephew remain in captivity.

The kidnappers reportedly demanded a N60 million ransom before they released the doctor’s husband.
