Osun’s Erin Ijesha WaterFalls: Adeleke Orders Upgrade of Tourist Site

Voice Air Media, News Update

Following recent concerns about the poor state of the Erin Ijesha Waterfalls in Osun State, Governor Ademola Adeleke paid a surprise visit to the tourist destination on Wednesday.

According to his Special Adviser on Sustainable Development Goals and Multilateral Relations, Bamikole Omishore, Adeleke’s visit was aimed at conducting an on-the-spot assessment of the site.

Sharing a video on X.com, Omishore wrote, “Governor Ademola Adeleke paid a surprise visit to Erin Ijesha Waterfalls on Wednesday August 14, 2024 for on-the-spot assessment.”

In the video, Adeleke, who was at the site, pleaded with youths to “cooperate with us,” adding that there will be separate meetings with the community and investors to ensure “this place is functioning well.”

VAM News reports that a concerned citizen who visited the site recently called on the state government to take immediate action to preserve and conserve the Erin-Ijesha Waterfalls.

The visitor, who decried the poor state of the waterfall, cited a filthy environment, erosion, and a lack of maintenance.

In response, the state government announced plans to upgrade several tourist sites in the state, including the popular Erin Ijesha Waterfalls.

The state Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Kolapo Alimi, stated that on the Erin Ijesha Waterfalls in particular, Adeleke directed the fast-tracking of ongoing renewal initiatives for the site, which include the formation of a tripartite committee for the management of the site, among others.
