JUST IN: Gunmen kill humanitarian worker in Benue

Gunmen were reported to have killed an Executive Director of a non-governmental organisation known as Concerned Youth Development Initiative, Chris Terfa-Ikpu.

Terfa-Ikpu was said to have been murdered by gunmen who traced him to his office located around the Logo area, Makurdi, Benue State capital, on Friday.

The murdered humanitarian worker was said to have been out of town for a while but returned during the week and decided to go to his office on Friday where he was later killed.

It was reported that the suspected gunmen forced themselves into the office after they shot the security man on duty.

A source said, “On arrival, the gunmen asked for Terfa’s whereabouts, but one of his workers led them to his office”

One of the sources who claimed to be close to the deceased and identified himself as Stanley Chimin, told journalists in Makurdi on Saturday that the victim had been away from the state for a while.

Family members were said to have rushed the victim to the hospital where he was confirmed dead.

The corpse was said to have been deposited at the morgue of the Benue State University Teaching Hospital, Makurdi.

Efforts to get the spokesperson for the state command, Catherine Anene, for confirmation were not successful as her phone rang out.

Also, she did not reply to text messages sent to her cellphone.
