Popular Osun-based broadcaster, Taiwo Kekere Ekun, is dead.
Kekere Ekun until her demise was working with Fresh FM Osogbo.
Taiwo Kekere was known for her charismatic and eloquent presentation of newspaper reviews in Yoruba, which earned her recognition both within and outside Osun State.
She was a graduate of Mass Communication from Osun State Polytechnic, Iree.
According to reports, she passed away in the early hours of today after a long battle with an undisclosed illness.
Confirming the incident, Fresh FM Osogbo posted a condolence message on their social media pages.
The station wrote, “It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that Fresh FM Osogbo announces the untimely passing of one of our esteemed staff members after a brief illness.
“Taiwo Kekereekun, passed away today, Monday June 24th, 2024. She left behind a legacy of dedication, professionalism, and camaraderie that will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of working with her.
Osun NUJ Declared 3-day Mourning Period
The Osun State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists regrets to announced the unexpected demise of a broadcast journalist and a devoted member of the union, Comrade Taiwo Kekere-Ekun,whose death occured early today after a brief illness.
Until her demise,she was a staff of Fresh FM, Osogbo and deputy Chairperson, National Association of Women’s Journalists, NAWOJ,Osun State chapter.
In honour of her dedication and selfless service to the union,a 3-day mourning period has been declared.
The union wishes to identify with the immediate families, colleagues and friends left behind by the deceased.
