Aiyedatiwa Approves Upgrade of Ondo Sports Complex, Other Capital Projects

As part of the significant steps towards revitalizing infrastructure in Ondo State, Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa has approved the upgrade of Ondo State Sports Complex in Akure.

This followed the ratification by the State Executive Council meeting, presided over by the Governor, held at the Council Chamber of the Governor’s Office in Akure on Tuesday.

During the meeting, the Council also approved three major projects; the construction of a new state judicial complex, the renovation of Ondo State Sports Complex and substantial improvements to the state’s road infrastructure.

According to the Commissioner for Youth and Sport Development, Saka Yusuf-Ogunleye, Ondo State Sports Complex rehabilitation which has been long overdue will feature upgrading of major facility in the stadium, including the main bowl and football pitch, as well as indoor sports hall and swimming pool.

He said the upgrade aims to meet international standards, making the stadium a venue capable of hosting significant events, especially Sunshine Stars and Sunshine Queens home matches.

“The new projects reflect the government’s dedication to comprehensive development, aiming to foster overall growth and prosperity in the State.”
