Voice Air Media, VAM News Update

A candidate in the upcoming November 16th gubernatorial elections in Ondo State, Mr. Israel Ayeni, has withdrawn from the race.

The New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) candidate who emerged as the party’s flagbearer with 100 votes at the primary on April 26, 2024 announced his withdrawal in a letter made available to journalists on Wednesday in Akure.

According to the letter, Ayeni’s decision to step down is in the “best interest of our great party, NNPP.”

The NNPP State Chairman, Mr. Peter Olagookun, confirmed Ayeni’s withdrawal, stating that it was a voluntary decision to make way for a stronger candidacy.

Olagookun revealed that a substitution governorship primary would be held on Wednesday to select a new candidate.
