How Kwara prison boss, Adeyinka Oyun died

Details of the final moments of Adeyinka Adebayo Oyun, the controller of Kwara State Correctional Custodial Service, have emerged.

The late Adeyinka closed his office in Ilorin around 6:00 p.m. on Friday and drove home without any health complaints.

He had scheduled appointments with some staff and non-staff of the correctional service on Saturday morning but could not meet them because he passed away in his sleep.

After his family members were unable to wake him in the early hours of Saturday, he was taken to Olanrewaju Clinic in the Sabo-Oke area of Ilorin, the state capital, where he was referred to the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital.

However, he was confirmed dead at the teaching hospital and his body was deposited at the morgue.

The spokesman of the state correctional service command, Mr. Philip, confirmed the death of the late controller in a statement issued in Ilorin on Saturday.

Adeyinka was described as a humane, passionate, and free-minded officer of the agency.

A sympathiser at his residence in Zango-Kulende area of Ilorin described him as a humanist and kind-hearted personality, and referred to the development as a black Saturday for members of his community.

According to official in Ilorin on Saturday, he was expected to retire from service in 2025.
