Court sends ex-Oyo PMS boss Auxiliary to prison

Mukaila Lamidi, (a.k.a Auxiliary), a former Chairman of Park Management System (PMS) in Oyo State was remanded at Agodi prison, Ibadan on Thursday after he was arraigned on charges bordering on murder.

 

The 63-year-old Auxiliary who was arraigned before Iyaganku Chief Magistrates’ Court, Ibadan, was remanded in prison till July 11 after he was docked by the police on a four-count charge bordering on conspiracy, causing death and stealing.

 

CSP Funke Fawole, Officer-in-Charge, Legal Department of the Police, Oyo State Command, told the court that Lamidi and others now at large allegedly conspired to commit the offences.

 

Fawole said, “On June 16, 2021, at about 3.30 p.m., Auxiliary and others now at large allegedly caused the death of one Azeez Rahman Abiodun, 36, by stabbing him with a knife in the chest.

 

“On June 16, 2021, the defendant and others allegedly conspired and stole assorted phones valued at N150 million, property of Azeez Hammed Adebayo”.

 

The offences, she said, were committed at Baba-Onilu Shopping Complex, Iwo Road area of Ibadan.

 

She said the offence was contrary to Sections 383 and 316 and punishable under Sections 319, l1l, 390 (9), 324 and 516 of the Criminal Code Laws of Oyo State 2000.

 

Chief Magistrate Olabisi Ogunkanmi ordered the remand of the 63-year-old Auxiliary due to lack of jurisdiction.

 

Ogunkanmi said the remand was pending the issuance of legal advice from the state Director of Public Prosecution (DPP).

 

The former PMS boss who was arrested by the men of Department of State Service at his Olodo residence, Ibadad few days ago was earlier on Thursday paraded by the Oyo State Commissioner of Police, Adebola Hamzat before journalists in Ibadan.

 

Hamzat said Auxiliary has been declared wanted for murder and will be arraigned in court for the offence.

 

The Police Commissioner added that weapons including one AK-47 rifle, 4 AK-47 magazines, 84 live AK-47 ammunitions, 19 pump action riffles, one Barreta Pistol, 7 cut-to-size guns and one English made barrel gun were recovered from the sacked PMS boss.

 

The Oyo Police boss listed other items recovered from Auxiliary to include 724 live cartridges, 25 cutlasses, 7 jack knives, 33 mobile phones, one Samsung laptop, charms, one Mazda bus, one Toyota Sienna and N3.4 . million cash.

 

“In furtherance of these, discreet intelligence-led search commenced for the sacked PMS chieftain with the help of technology, collaborative efforts with sister services and community policing, many locations were identified, traced and combed for months until his recent arrest in a concerted effort with our sister services.

 

“Moving forward, the suspect would be charged to court for offences committed,” Hamzat said.
