In the path of hitting the ground running, Samson Ajao has continued in his quest to break the Guinness World Record for the longest marathon reading aloud after hitting 100 hours.
Although, with fatigue visibly written on his face and evidence in his voice, Ajao continued to steer on to continue the rest of the journey.
VAM News reports that Ajao, a passionate Nigerian reader and staff member of a law firm, started the remarkable journey to set a new Guinness World Record for the longest marathon reading aloud on Monday, May 6, 2024, at Adolak Hotel’s Conference Hall in Osogbo, Osun State capital.
The challenge, after its completion would make him the world record holder after the current holder, Rysbai Isakov from Bursa, Turkey embarked on a 124-hour Read-a-thon in September 2022.
Ajao’s reading material includes a diverse range of books on various subjects, including literature, history, science, and philosophy.
The former Student Union President of Osun State Polytechnic, Iree, noted that the decline in reading culture prompted him to embark on the challenge.
Notable personalities who have rallied around Ajao since he began the challenge offering their support and encouragement include the second wife of Governor Ademola Adeleke, Mrs Ngozi Adeleke; royal father from his town, lecturers and students from his alma mata, among others.
The event features a live-streamed show on his official Facebook page and is scheduled to conclude on Wednesday, May 15.
