Suspected fraudster arrested in Osun

The operatives of Osun Amotekun on Tuesday arrested a 51years old man, identified as Adegoroye Adefola Akinola, an indigene of Igbara Odo of Ekiti State for allegedly defrauding nine victims of #1,597,000 at Oluyole area of Ibadan in Oyo State in the guise of processing of C.A.C registration and International Passport.

The suspect was arrested after a complaint was lodged at Amotekun Ayedaade Command in Gbongan and our operatives swung into action immediately by tracking the suspect after he absconded from Ibadan to Igbara Odo in Ekiti State after perpetrating the evil act and he was constantly changing his mobile number, hence it was difficult to find out his whereabouts. But during technical analysis, the Amotekun discovered that he was in Igbara Odo in Ekiti State, he was arrested following a tip-off from his girlfriend where she was asked to call him and invite him to Gbongan for business and he was apprehended.

The suspect is facing allegations of criminal conspiracy, fraud, impersonation, deceit, cheating, and identity theft, the suspect is using different names and account numbers to defraud his victims.

While reacting to the arrest, the Corps Commander of Osun Amotekun Corps, Brig. Gen. Bashir Adewinmbi confirmed the arrest, he said the suspect was arrested by the Amotekun Intelligence operatives in Gbongan after a complaint was lodged at Ayedaade Local Government command by his victim he duped in the Oluyole area of Ibadan and our operatives swung into action immediately where they tracked the suspect who has absconded from Ibadan to his hometown in Igbara-Odo of Ekiti State and his using different phone numbers to avoid arrest and he was arrested following a tip-off from his girlfriend who knows his hotline where she was instructed to call him and invite him to Gbongan for business, on getting to Gbongan he was apprehended by Amotekun

“Amotekun Intelligence Operatives swung into action to arrest the suspect immediately after the victim reported the case to the Amotekun Ayedaade Command in Gbongan.

“During the investigation, the operatives discovered that the suspect had changed his phone number, and relocated from Ibadan to Igbara-Odo in Ekiti State, where he was invited to Gbongan by his girlfriend for business where he was later arrested. He said.

“Further investigation revealed that the suspect goes by different names such as Ayodeji Harry-young, and Samuel Ayodeji with multiple phone numbers and ATM cards bearing different names that he uses to perpetrate his heinous acts, he confessed to joining 419 gangs in 2003 in Ekiti State,” Adewinmbi said.

Adewinmbi asserted that the arrest underscores the commitment and dedication of the Osun Amotekun Corps to combating crimes in the state and ensuring the safety and security of lives and properties in the state.

The suspect has been handed over to Amotekun Oyo State Command for further Interrogation and prosecution.
