The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC has released the Timetable and Schedule of Activities for the two off-cycle Governorship elections in Edo State scheduled for 21st September 2024 and Ondo State holding on 16th November 2024, fixing 27th April as deadline for party’s primaries in Ondo State.
INEC Chairman, Professor Mahmoud Yakubu during Inter Agency Consultative Committee on Election security meeting in Abuja said that the release was in conformity with the requirements of the Electoral Act 2022.
The INEC boss disclosed that party primaries for Edo State would commence next week and end three weeks later while that for Ondo State, would be be held between 6th and 27th April 2024.
On the forth coming bye elections on the 3rd of February, Professor Yakubu urged the security agencies to ensure the security of lives and property of all the stakeholders that would take part in the forthcoming bye elections.
The National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu represented by Alhaji Hassan Yahaya Abdulahi pledged that operatives would ensure the security of lives and properties of the electorate on election day.
