Two Polytechnic Students Crushed To Death 24 Hours Before Final Year Examination

It was a black Monday for members of Akwa Ibom State Polytechnic community in Ikot Osurua after a truck crushed two students of the institution to death on the ever-busy Aba Road, Ikot Ekpene.

The sad incident occurred yesterday evening around the popular Ikot Inyang junction, a few meters away from the school in Ikot Ekpene Local Government Area.

The truck driver was said to have lost control while on high speed and rammed into the girls killing them on the spot.

Their sad incident left colleagues sobbing uncontrollably as the remains were evacuated to a mortuary from the scene.

The deceased, Abasifreke Okon and Irene Edwin from Ibesikpo Asutan were Science Laboratory Technology students are described as “besties and inseparable twins” preparing for their signing out after many years of hustle and bustle of academic life.

Meanwhile, the management of the Polytechnic has postponed the exam.
