10 die in Lagos-Ibadan expressway accident

VOICE AIR MEDIA News Update

Ten persons, all male adults, lost their lives in an early morning auto crash that occurred around Kara turning inward on the Lagos Ibadan expressway, on Tuesday.

The incident was reported to have involved two vehicles, a Toyota Hiace bus ash colour with registration number FKY898YF and an IVECO Truck Tipper orange colour.

According to the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Public Education Officer, Florence Okpe, the accident was a result of excessive speed on the part of the driver of the Hiace bus, who rammed into the truck which was negotiating the turning.

Seven persons were said to have been injured while one person escaped unhurt.

The Ogun State Sector Commander of FRSC, Anthony Uga, said the accident was avoidable and described the incident as unfortunate.

He advised drivers to take rest after four hours of driving, noting that fatigue had been identified as a major cause of road accidents.
