VOICE AIR MEDIA

THE Osun State Government has commissioned a new 127-year-old school building and revitalized two science laboratories and three classrooms in Ilesha East, sparking jubilation among students, teachers, and locals.

The Methodist Primary School in Otapete, Ilesha East, stood as a testament to time, its age-weathered structure prompting concerns within the community.

However, representing Governor Ademola Adeleke, Commissioner for Rural Development and Community Affairs, Hon Ayobami Ganiyu Olaoluwa, praised the Osun Community Development Agency for their commendable work in achieving these renovations.

Olaoluwa stressed the importance of these projects in creating a conducive learning environment, boosting school enrollment, and alleviating stress and other obstacles to effective teaching and learning.

Additionally, he highlighted that the rehabilitation of science laboratories and classrooms at Arimoro Community High School in Ilesha West would contribute to reversing the poor performance of students, particularly in science subjects, in public secondary schools.

In closing, he urged both the community and school authorities to ensure diligent maintenance and long-term sustainability of these improvements.

Aderonke Funmi Abokede, the General Manager of the Osun Community Development Agency, further underscored the significance of the science laboratory renovations, emphasizing the government’s unwavering commitment to enhancing education quality.

She said the project was executed under the Osun COVID-19 Action Recovery and Economic Stimulus, Osun-CARES, under DLT 1.4.

Abokede commended the parents and teachers for their invaluable contributions throughout the project’s implementation and urged them to be vigilant in preserving the science laboratories, classrooms, furniture, and equipment on the school premises.

Local government representatives added their voices to the chorus of praise, acknowledging the State Government’s dedication to providing an enabling environment for students, which they believe will significantly enhance knowledge and skills acquisition. (Insight Media)
