VAM News

A postgraduate student of the Federal University of Technology Akure, Ondo State, Christopher Olusa, said he is ready to break a Guinness World Record by presenting a non-stop marathon speech for five days.

Olusa said the GWR had given him a go-ahead to dabble into the world record event, tagged “From words to world records”

Speaking with journalists on Thursday in Akure, the state capital, about his proposed event, Olusa said he had undergone a series of mock trials to get acquainted with the record events, declaring that he was ready to break a record.

He said physically and mentally, he is well prepared to embark on the record-breaking task and that a medical team would be on standby to attend to any emergency.

On why he decided to take on the record-breaking venture, Olusa said he was driven by the passion to leave a lasting legacy that celebrates the power of words and inspires individuals to make a difference.

The undergraduate said, “All necessary guidelines to embark on the event are ready. I will be reading inspirational materials and intend to use all funds raised during the five-day marathon to treat kids with speech challenges.

“My intention is to break the existing record of 90 hours and two minutes held by Mr. Ram Ananta of Nepal since August 2018, and my journey has been one marked by a dedication to the cause of change and the relentless pursuit of knowledge.

“It is with this same spirit that I bring you today’s announcement regarding the upcoming speech marathon, an event that embodies the very essence of transformation and inspiration.”

Continuing, he said, “The genesis of this remarkable endeavour was born from an unwavering commitment to inspire positive change in our society. It is about transcending boundaries, shattering limits, and aspiring towards something extraordinary.

“Today, I am overjoyed to announce that our unwavering dedication has borne fruit, as Guinness World Records has granted us their esteemed approval for what promises to be an unprecedented feat.

“Our speech marathon is not just another event; it is a testament to human determination and the unyielding power of words. Over the course of five days, we will embark on a journey of enlightenment, as I read speeches from inspirational figures spanning the annals of history.”

Olusa, who appealed for the support of the media, also expressed his personal commitment to the event, saying he is at the peak of his physical fitness and mental readiness to undertake the monumental challenge.

“Our theme, ‘Voices of change: inspiring solutions for a better world, ‘ resonates deeply with the essence of this marathon.

“It encapsulates our collective aspiration to inspire transformation, ignite hope, and foster positive change. I extend an open invitation to all, near and far, to join us on this extraordinary journey – from words to world records,” he added. (Punch)
