Hon. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, Minister of Interior, has charged personnel of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, always to treat Nigerians with respect.
The charge was given by the Minister during a visit to the Corps’ headquarters in Abuja on Thursday evening to familiarize himself with the agency’s operations.
Treat Nigerians with respect,” he advised. “Being in uniform is not an excuse to violate Nigerians’ rights.
Tunji-Ojo praised the Corps’ efforts to ensure general security in the country, particularly protecting critical national infrastructure.
He stated that the NSCDC had what it took to reduce the workload of the Nigerian military in managing the country’s internal security challenges.
He challenged the NSCDC Commandant General, Dr. Ahmed Audi, to develop more initiatives for optimal performance, promising his full support.
With the level of capacity I saw today, I’m sure we are not too far from securing our country.
We will support you to make sure that you get what you need to secure the country, the minister said.
