The Nigeria Employers’ Consultative Association, NECA, and Nigerian Economic Summit Group, NESG, have backed plans by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration to achieve an eight-point agenda in three years.
Recalled that during the inaugural Federal Executive Council meeting presided over by the President, the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Mr Wale Edun, said FEC had set eight priority areas to deliver for Nigerians in the next three years.
Reacting to the development on Tuesday, the Chief Executive Officer of NESG, Dr Tayo Aduloju, said the federal government’s unveiled plans would take the country out of the woods if carefully implemented.
Aduloye urged that the new ministers use the next three months to recalibrate and fine-tune policies that would put the nation’s economy on the path to success.
“We urge the cabinet to use the opportunity of the mid-point review of the National Development Plans and the Sustainable Development Goals to recalibrate the country for success, complete the finetuning of policies and repositioning of institutions in the next three months so that the next three years are spent in execution mode, not “review mode”, he stated.
Similarly, NECA’s Director-General, Mr Adewale-Smatt Oyerinde, urged that the government ensure proper coordination towards implementing the planned agenda.
“We urge that strong coordination efforts should be put in place to avoid it being caught up in inter-ministerial misalignments and narrow implementation as witnessed in past administrations,” he said.
