THE Minister of Hannatu Musawa, the minister of art, culture and creative economy is under fire for not having a National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, certificate.
The Management of NYSC confirmed Thursday that the minister is a serving corps member.
The Director of Press and Public Relations at NYSC told the Cable that the minister is still serving.
Human Rights Writers Association of Nigeria, HURIWA, had raised the alarm that Musawa is without an NYSC certificate.
“Section 13 of the National Youths Service Corps Act stipulates that any Nigerian graduate below 30 who refuses to make himself/herself available for the compulsory one-year service has committed an offense “and is liable on conviction to a fine of N4, OOO, or imprisonment for a term of two years or both such fine and imprisonment,” HURIWA said.
Musawa, who is above 40 years of age, was among the 45-ministers President Bola Ahmed Tinubu inaugurated on Monday after confirmation by the Senate.
